Gending Chilao

"Gending" is a generic term for composition in Javanese gamelan. Gending Chilao shares similarities with traditional Javanese formal structure, mode, and other qualities, but here combined with a Western emissary, the cello (retuned to match the gamelan). Chilao is a beautiful area in the San Gabriel Mountains of southern California.
